Our equipment is purchased to be of the highest standard, but the quality of service that Startech prides itself in is down to its people, so let’s meet them.
Roy - Managing Director
Prompted by a primary interest in audio, Roy's career began with school productions and Drama clubs leading to a Theatre Technician position with Donmar Group in Covent Garden. Prior to the introduction of Startech in 1998, Roy worked for the London City Ballet, Last Resort for Channel 4 and the BBC Children's Royal Variety Show and many other productions. He launched Startech with the intention of providing a service to cover every aspect of technical production. In the past 12 years Startech have produced sets for large events including the Completion Ceremony of St Pancras International station, Olympic Bid Meetings and Global Road shows for BP to name just a few.
Les - Set & Stage Construction
Previously a supervisor at a steel fabrications company Les joined Startech nine years ago as a Driver and Assistant Technician. He has since travelled to various countries in Europe creating ideal environments for corporate conferences. Throughout the UK he has constructed impressive settings for events such as product launches, exhibitions and live performances.
Stuart - Lighting & Sound Technician
Startech originally discovered Stuart through our Work Experience programme with local schools. He has experience of Technical Stage Management for theatrical performances in Oxford and aspires to broaden his knowledge of the live events industry.
Martin - Sound Engineer and AV
Martin has worked with events venues in Oxford and toured the UK with several musical theatre companies. This evolved into freelance Sound Design and Front of House Engineering. Having been frequently employed by Startech as a freelancer we now proudly recognise him as a full time member of our team.
Shanks - Technical Manager
With 30 years experience in technical production, Shanks has accompanied internationally renowned bands on world tours and managed live events venues. Shanks' particular field is rigging and lighting and this is his fifth year with Startech.
Katie - Accounts Manager
Trained in administration and accounts, Katie worked for a large corporation in Oxford prior to joining Startech in 2009. With 5 years experience she is an invaluable credit to the company.
Jenny - Operations Manager
Our newest edition to the team, Jenny has previously assisted in events management including the production of a local film festival. She is looking forward to the start of her career in the live events industry with Startech.
